CGFA is a community-based firefighters’ group, that is driven to support our local community when they need the urgent assistance of trained and qualified firefighters, as they face one of life’s most stressful and strenuous situations. With knowledge about the industry and a deep routed passion for serving and saving lives, CGFA South Africa was founded in 2019. We take an active role to ensuring that we positively contribute to our society through fire prevention and fire safety information & educational content development and sharing.
Our team consists of 7 volunteers for form part of our educational unit. The team hold a collective 77 qualifications in 47 different spheres of fire rescue, making us one of the smallest, but one of the most skilled units in operation. We absolutely love sharing the knowledge that we have gained over the years. We are crucially aware that sound fire safety education starts early, and we are committed to delivering bespoke and tailored educational content to schools, communities and work places. We make every effort to ensure that everyone receives a lasting impression with exceptional information and insights being shared. While we understand that not everyone is a fan of homework, the continuation of information to the home environment, especially from a fire safety perspective is crucial. We will equip you with a little take home for the kids as well, which will allow for this information to touch more lives and for the content to be reiterated. Because we love our environment as much as we love our community, this information will be sent to you electronically, for either printing at school or through digital distribution to parents and caregivers.
With all of the above being said, we are indeed a Not for Profit Company, which means that we do what we do, because we love what we do, and we do not charge for our services in any aspect. Our volunteers are exactly that, and they do not get paid for their efforts in fighting fires within our community either. This means that our business is completely reliant on donations to remain operational. Having said this, we would like to request that a donation be made to CGFA, so that we can cover a portion of the costs associated with conducting this once in a lifetime demo.
Because our volunteers all work full time jobs, we need to be as fair as possible to them, while striving to inform and educate our youth. We host visits on a first come first serve basis, with one school visit being conducted on a bi-weekly basis, on Thursday’s only. If you are interested in booking our team, please contact info@cgfa.co.za
No. All of our members are employed full time and take time from their everyday lives to educate and interact with our community.
No, as an NPC we are not allowed to charge for any services offered. We do however ask that a donation be made to our organisation so we can cover some of the costs associated with coming out for the demo.
If the schools are on the same premises we definitely can, if not, then unfortunately, we cannot. It’s very difficult for us to travel with all our gear and still maintain our everyday careers.
All donations received by CGFA are allocated to either replace or upgrade equipment, clean our bunker gear, diesel for our volunteer’s response vehicles and to support our community.
